For the Spook Friendly

Have you ever watched any scary movies like Paranormal Activity or The Sixth Sense wishing you too, had the power to invite spirits into your life? Here's your chance to test it out..if you dare.

1) Keep an open mind. Believing is seeing, so if you don't believe in the paranormal, you most likely will not encounter any activity.

2) If you are in your room, relax and open up your mind. Like doing yoga, relax yourself. Have dim lighting in your room and set the mood.

3) Shield your mind. Incase the ghost may be bad, you must protect yourself and you can do so by imagining an egg shaped sphere around your head. Maintain that image and keep it contained in your mind.

4) Keep yourself from distractions. Look around and try to pay attention to detail. Look for things that you won't normally see.

You can also try other types of activities out there. Such as...

The Ouji board.

PhotobucketIn this board game, you invite spirits by asking them questions and depending on whether or not they choose to answer you, the board will move.

Good luck, and be safe!

Haunted Places in San Francisco

San Francisco is an old city full of rich history, where many tourists come from all over the world, whether to enjoy sight-seeing, fine-dining, or shopping, there are many things to do. If you're ever craving an adrenaline rush, try ghost hunting. In San Francisco, there's no doubt that there are numbers of haunted places.

1) Stow Lake:

During the day time, Stow Lake looks absolutely gorgeous. Many people come to this park to enjoy bright days and fresh air. But at night...this place is not somewhere you want to find yourself exploring by yourself.

During night, the place is nearly pitch dark and the atmosphere is not so inviting.
It is a perfect location for a horror moving to be filmed, and seems like the perfect hideout for lost spirits. Urban legends about the Stow Lake have been circulating for nearly 100 years. The story goes:

There once was a lady who was walking her baby in a stroller along the park. After a while, the lady got tired and rested on the bench next to the lake, with the stroller right next to her. While she was sitting and chatting with another woman, the stroller happened to stroll away, and the baby fell into the lake. She went into the lake to look for her baby, and that was the last of her existence...or her human existence at least.
It is rumored that if you go to Stow Lake late at night, there is a lot of paranormal activity.

Photobucket It is rumored that this statue is in honor of her.  It is known to move and change positions.
If you say “White lady, white lady, I have your baby” three times, the lady will appear right in front of you according to legend. She’ll then ask you, “Have you seen my baby?” If you say yes, she’ll haunt you and if you say no, she’ll kill you, but those are just rumors.

The University of Something Freaky is going on here..

During my first year so far here at the University of San Francisco, there has been a number of paranormal encounters that I've experienced, little did I know, many of my other peers have experienced a number of freaky encounters as well.
To start off, here is the history of USF, of its ghostly past...

Did you know, USF was actually built on top of burial grounds? The school's original campus, which was located on Lone Mountain, and originally the host of the San Francisco College for Women, was built on top of Calvary Cemetery, a Catholic Cemetery from 1860. Photobucket

There are many myths around school that Lone Mountain is especially haunted and invites many unrested spirits.
One myth in particular, is the urban legend of "Sister Agnes". According to the myth, Agnes wanders around Lone Mountain's back courtyard as well as the Bell Tower, where she jumped off due to an unwanted pregnancy with another priest. According to Al Grosskopf, this legend is sealed in Public Safety records.
Here, is a video where students walk to Lone Mountain and show the "haunted mirror" where Sister Agnes is said to have been seen.

If you're ever broke and bored, ghost hunting is a favorite activity of my friends and I in order to catch a quick adrenaline rush. We made a trip to Lone Mountain one day, and I nearly peed my pants when we walked into the famous Harry Potter Library, and heard a book drop to the ground. We all screamed on top of our lungs and well, that was enough paranormal activity for us for the night.

More Urban Legends:

Another story lurking around our campus is of our library.Photobucket According to legend, her last name was Gottlieb, and she has become known as the "Phantom of the Fourth Floor."
According to USF librarian Paul E. Camp of the Special Collections Department, Gottlieb used to work on the fourth floor of the USF library. She was a student assistant and was often seen reading for her studies, as she was an English major. People who once knew her described her as someone with a "wonderfully upbeat personality."
In the fall of 1976, disaster struck when Gottlieb was discovered hanging from an oak tree outside of her apartment in what is now Oak Ramble.
Soon after her death, many unexplainable events had taken place in the library that she used to study at. Book trucks were said to have been moved by themselves and automatic doors would open without anyone triggering them. Many students studying late at night have heard doors closing and opening repeatedly.Other reports were students who said they saw a young woman with a green backpack mysteriously disappear into thin air.
"From what I've been told, she used to wear a distinct bright green backpack prior to her death, which was unique at the time," Camp said.
Every once in a while the automatic doors that open to the Special Collections Department will behave in a bizarre manner. It is said that ghosts sometimes have a hard time letting go and they attach themselves to a physical object if the person once had an emotional connection with it when they were alive.
What is even more strange, is that the English literature books that were once located on the fourth floor have been relocated.

Last but not least, is the Education building. According to my Nursing major Mitchell Siy, a friend of mine, told me recently about some spooky stories about the Education building,Photobucket one of the oldest buildings at USF. He said apparently, that "There is a little boy siting down on the stairs right by the vending machine that smiles and disappears shortly after it is seen."

According to the Director of Public Safety Dan Lawson, “Officers at Education would always report spooky things like doors closing and weird noises being heard.” Yet, he also says, “Our officers appear to have good relationships with the ghosts.”
