To start off, here is the history of USF, of its ghostly past...
Did you know, USF was actually built on top of burial grounds? The school's original campus, which was located on Lone Mountain, and originally the host of the San Francisco College for Women, was built on top of Calvary Cemetery, a Catholic Cemetery from 1860.
There are many myths around school that Lone Mountain is especially haunted and invites many unrested spirits.
One myth in particular, is the urban legend of "Sister Agnes". According to the myth, Agnes wanders around Lone Mountain's back courtyard as well as the Bell Tower, where she jumped off due to an unwanted pregnancy with another priest. According to Al Grosskopf, this legend is sealed in Public Safety records.
Here, is a video where students walk to Lone Mountain and show the "haunted mirror" where Sister Agnes is said to have been seen.

If you're ever broke and bored, ghost hunting is a favorite activity of my friends and I in order to catch a quick adrenaline rush. We made a trip to Lone Mountain one day, and I nearly peed my pants when we walked into the famous Harry Potter Library, and heard a book drop to the ground. We all screamed on top of our lungs and well, that was enough paranormal activity for us for the night.

More Urban Legends:
Another story lurking around our campus is of our library. According to legend, her last name was Gottlieb, and she has become known as the "Phantom of the Fourth Floor."
According to USF librarian Paul E. Camp of the Special Collections Department, Gottlieb used to work on the fourth floor of the USF library. She was a student assistant and was often seen reading for her studies, as she was an English major. People who once knew her described her as someone with a "wonderfully upbeat personality."
In the fall of 1976, disaster struck when Gottlieb was discovered hanging from an oak tree outside of her apartment in what is now Oak Ramble.
Soon after her death, many unexplainable events had taken place in the library that she used to study at. Book trucks were said to have been moved by themselves and automatic doors would open without anyone triggering them. Many students studying late at night have heard doors closing and opening repeatedly.Other reports were students who said they saw a young woman with a green backpack mysteriously disappear into thin air.
"From what I've been told, she used to wear a distinct bright green backpack prior to her death, which was unique at the time," Camp said.
Every once in a while the automatic doors that open to the Special Collections Department will behave in a bizarre manner. It is said that ghosts sometimes have a hard time letting go and they attach themselves to a physical object if the person once had an emotional connection with it when they were alive.
What is even more strange, is that the English literature books that were once located on the fourth floor have been relocated.
Last but not least, is the Education building. According to my Nursing major Mitchell Siy, a friend of mine, told me recently about some spooky stories about the Education building, one of the oldest buildings at USF. He said apparently, that "There is a little boy siting down on the stairs right by the vending machine that smiles and disappears shortly after it is seen."
According to the Director of Public Safety Dan Lawson, “Officers at Education would always report spooky things like doors closing and weird noises being heard.” Yet, he also says, “Our officers appear to have good relationships with the ghosts.”
